Learn to Skate (LTS) Program

The LTS Program:

Learn-to-Skate (LTS) classes offer skaters the opportunity to work on developing skills for ice sports from figure skating to ice hockey as well as recreational skating.

Our classes include a 30 minute group skill lesson and 30 minutes of practice time. Classes are available for all ages (3+) and skill levels. Coaches will evaluate the skaters throughout the sessions with skill testing the 6th week. Our goal is to advance skaters at their own pace, and also promote skaters who are capable of skating in higher levels.

All Sessions take place at Metro ice Sport Facility

What is the youngest a student can be to register for ISFA?

The youngest age for Snowplow depends on the individual skater. The skater must be able to be on ice, without a parent, and be able to take directions from a group leader. We’ve found that the age for this varies, and we have had success with skaters as young as 2 years old – they must be able to walk first.

Are skates included?

Our organization has a mix of sizes available for skaters in our classes, and use of a pair of skates is included with registration. These skates are general purpose recreation skates, and have a figure skating toe pick and tail on the blade. While we have a variety of sizes available, we cannot guarantee availability of a particular size – please arrive early to ensure you get first pick. If we’re short a size, we will attempt to have it available for the next class. Skaters are welcome to bring their own skates. Plus we sell a professional (new or used) skates.
